Installation

Excelor is integrated directly into Excel.

Prerequisites

• Microsoft Excel (Desktop or Web)
• API Keys (See below)

Getting Started

1. Open Excel.
2. Click the Excelor button in the ribbon.
3. Proceed to API Configuration to set up your keys.

API Configuration

Excelor uses a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model. You must provide API keys for the services you want to use.

To configure keys, click the Settings (Gear) icon in the Excelor sidebar.

1. Google AI (Gemini) - REQUIRED

Used for the main chat agent and Dexter research.

• Model: Gemini 3 Flash (Recommended) or Pro.
• Get Key: Google AI Studio
• Cost: Free tier available.

2. Financial Datasets - REQUIRED

Used for stock prices, financial statements, and SEC filings.

• Get Key: Financial Datasets
• Cost: Free tier available for testing.

3. OpenRouter (Optional)

Used for the "Web Research" tool (Gemini 3 Flash) or alternative LLMs.

• Get Key: OpenRouter
• Cost: Pay-per-token.

4. Tavily (Optional)

Alternative web search provider for Dexter.

• Get Key: Tavily

Model Settings

You can change the AI model used by Excelor at any time.

• Dropdown: Use the selector in the chat footer.
• Settings: Go to Settings > Appearance to set a default.

Supported Models:

• gemini 3 pro
• gemini 3 flash
• opus 4.6

Custom Formatting

You can enforce global formatting rules for all models Excelor builds.

1. Go to Settings > Formatting.
2. Enter your rules in natural language.
   • Example: "Always use Arial font size 10. Headers should be dark blue with white text. Numbers should have 1 decimal place."
3. Click Save.

Excelor will inject these rules into the system prompt for every session.
