Troubleshooting
Common issues and solutions for Excelor.
Model Generation Issues
"#REF!" or "#NAME?" Errors in Generated Sheet
Cause: The AI tried to reference a sheet that doesn't exist yet, or used a function not available in your Excel version. Fix:
- Ask to fix it: "There are #REF errors in the Income Statement. Please fix them."
- Read Sheet: The agent typically validates sheets automatically. If it missed it, prompt: "Read the #Income Statement and check for errors."
- Step-by-Step: For complex models, ask to build one sheet at a time. "First build Assumptions. (Wait). Now build Income Statement."
Circular References
Symptoms: Excel shows a circular reference warning. Cause: LBO models often create circular loops (Interest -> Net Income -> Cash Sweep -> Debt Paydown -> Interest). Fix:
- Enable Iterative Calculation: Go to File > Options > Formulas and check Enable iterative calculation.
- Ask for Non-Circular: "Build the LBO model without circular references (use beginning balance for interest)."
Agent Behavior
Agent is Stuck "Thinking..."
Cause: The LLM is generating a long response or the backend is hanging. Fix:
- Click the Red Stop Button next to the chat input.
- Reload the sidebar if necessary.
Agent Ignores Instructions
Cause: Context window limit reached or weak model selected. Fix:
- Switch Model: Try a stronger model like Gemini 1.5 Pro.
- Clear History: Start a new chat session (Refresh icon in header).
Formatting Looks Wrong
Fix:
- Go to Settings > Formatting. You can define global rules (e.g., "Always use Arial 10", "Headers must be Green"). The agent will respect these rules for all future outputs.
